Antoni Gaudí is the most recognised Catalan architect of all time, and Barcelona is the city where most of his works can be found. As an artist, he was born just at the right time and in the right place to create all his great architectural work.
From his earliest works decorating squares and parks in the city moving later to buildings full of enormous exoticism such as “Casa Vicens”, to the completion of some of his most important works located on Passeig de Gràcia: “Casa Batlló” and “Casa Milà”. Many of these works have been recognised as World Heritage sites by UNESCO, such as the houses on Passeig de Gràcia, Park Güell and his masterpiece, the Sagrada Família. Park Güell allows visitors to not only enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the city but also get lost in the majestic park designed by Gaudí where they will come across hidden corners that will take you by surprise always inspired by nature and striving to capture the wilderness. Casa Vicens located in the Gràcia neighbourhood is the first work by the young Antoni Gaudí. Initially a summer house, it has undergone several changes throughout history in order to adapt to new times.
Palau Güell, located very close to Las Ramblas, was the home of Mr. Güell, a famous figure of the Barcelona bourgeoisie of the time and who is considered Gaudí's patron.
Casa Batlló and Casa Milà (La Pedrera) are two bourgeois houses located on the busy Passeig de Gràcia. A quintessential bourgeois and luxurious street in Barcelona, where the most powerful families boast and compete with each other to have the best designed modernist houses.
